8th National Pilot Contest in ADEX 2021
As part of ADEX 2021 (Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition), the 8th National Pilot Contest and the inaugural Honorary Pilot selection were held. A highlight of this year’s event was President Moon's dramatic arrival in an FA-50 fighter jet, drawing nationwide attention. In this project, I led overall exhibition design and product design, ensuring that all visual elements complemented the broader ADEX event atmosphere while showcasing the Air Force’s identity and vision for the future as a Space Force.

Issue
- The design needed to reflect the Air Force’s identity while also expressing its vision of advancing into the Space Force era.
- As this was a large-scale, high-profile project involving the President, it was critical to simplify the civilian application process for broader participation.
- All designs had to integrate seamlessly with the overall aesthetic and scale of the ADEX 2021 exhibition.
Solution
- Developed a visual concept featuring fighter jets ascending toward space, with a darker color palette to convey depth and futuristic ambition.
- Achieved a final competition rate of 535:1, marking one of the most competitive selections in the event’s history.
- Designed key on-site structures, including the presentation stage used during ADEX, ensuring they matched the event’s overall branding and visual tone.
Result
- Successfully executed a nationally recognized Air Force event within the prestigious ADEX framework, attracting significant public and media attention.
- Received letters of appreciation from foreign military attachés expressing satisfaction with the performance and hospitality.
- The visually cohesive design reinforced the Air Force’s image and its transition toward a Space Force vision.
- The streamlined application system improved civilian participation accessibility, significantly enhancing engagement and operational efficiency.
